Cool was nominated in the awards in the category of Best Male Artiste in East Africa.

"Tuyina okwegata mumbera nga eno bweti Team Uganda let's do this for our country. Vote vote vote. Together we can," the singer wrote.

Angry social media users didn't hold back at letting Kenzo know that Bebe Cool wasn't part of their plan.

One user called Mbalie said: "We finished a long time..it’s Diamond Platnumz wining..l can’t be called a kiyenje (cockroach) and use my OTT again to vote him. Nedda ssebo."

Another one who calls himself Hossy wrote: "Eddy Kenzo Weberelemu, I thought voting was free. But unfortunately we need OTT and this fool @50 supported this controversial tax. We would rather vote Kenyans, after all, they are our neighbours Tanzania is far and they have good internet access, they can do this without our support. Alindeko Olutalo weluliba luwede tulimwambaza engule."

Cool, also known as Moses Ssali, raised dust when he outrightly supported the OTT tax where Ugandans have to pay UGX200 to use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Kenzo is known to have a previous history of beef with Ssali -- the two have gone head to head to attack each other on the internet.

Cool became a red spot to several people when he condoned the government's move to detain musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine in mid-august.

Wine says he was tortured in detention at a military facility and had to be flown to the US for treatment -- a move Cool criticised saying he was faking injuries.
