President should allow musicians to work this festive season - Eddy Yawe
The Uganda entertainment industry has for over two years been under total lock down since the coronavirus pandemic hit. The president promised to fully open the economy in January, but Eddy Yawe says this is the prime season when artists and creatives get to earn some good money.
He adds that musicians mainly work in three seasons, that’s Christmas, Easter, and Eid days and for the past almost two years, most of them that entirely depended on music and performances have not been earning and are struggling to survive, yet they have families to feed and also need money to reinvest in their music and art.
In an interview, musician and politician, Eddy, suggests the industry is reopen so that artists and other stakeholders are able to feed their families.
At the moment, musicians are only allowed to perform at small gatherings like weddings to avoid the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
