The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, and the Inhebantu, Jovia Mutesi, embarked on an exciting visit to Kaynela Farms in Kayunga District, exploring the intersection of traditional agriculture and modern farming practices.
Their visit began with a cultural welcome, featuring traditional Banyankole milk pots known as "Ebyanzi," and fresh milk prepared using heritage methods.
This introduction set the tone for the royals to experience the farm's innovative approach to blending Uganda's agricultural heritage with cutting-edge sustainability practices.
Exploring Farming Innovations
As part of the visit, the royals toured the expansive 75-acre farm, which showcases a variety of agricultural practices.
Guided by the farm’s team, they explored banana plantations, aquaculture ponds, aviaries with over 50 bird species, and livestock enclosures featuring camels, crocodiles, and ostriches.
The royals also learned about the farm’s use of solar-powered drip irrigation and its commitment to sustainable farming practices.
“This visit reminds us of the value of our heritage. Preserving our traditions while embracing modern innovations is the way forward,” said the Kyabazinga.
Thrills on Quad Bikes
Adding a touch of excitement, the Kyabazinga and Inhebantu hopped onto quad bikes for a thrilling ride around the farm.
The experience delighted onlookers and added an adventurous element to the royals' tour.
