Pastor Yiga released from detention over rape allegations

Pastor Augustine Yiga has been released on police bond following his arrest on Friday evening.

The controversial pastor was being detained after accusations of raping and impregnating one of his followers in 2014.

Yiga allegedly raped the victim in the prayer room where she was to seek for 'spiritual redemption and financial breakthrough'.

His arrest sparked brief protests from his followers who stationed at Kawempe Police demanding for his unconditional release.

The pastor's arrest comes weeks after his television channel claimed he died in his sleep in South Africa.

Days later, Yiga surfaced in a video clip announcing an overnight prayer where he will sell spiritual rings to his followers.
