Museveni plans mini Cabinet reshuffle, Amongi, Namuganza, Kitutu to face axe
A source who prefers anonymity has told this reporter that Betty Amongi (Gender, Labour and Social Development Minister), Mary Goretti Kitutu (Karamoja Affairs Minister) and Persis Namuganza (State Minister for Housing) are top on the list of the would-be ministers to face the axe.
Amongi has lately been soaked in the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) saga that involves alleged corruption and mismanagement of the Fund.
Mary Goretti Kitutu has been severally accused of corruption by Karamoja area members of parliament (MP), and Persis Namuganza has been accused of indiscipline and insubordination by fellow MPs. She was censured by the Parliament early this year.
The source also revealed that the President has increasingly been frustrated with female officers he has appointed in high positions with the belief that they are incorruptible and are high performers.
“It started with Jennifer Musisi disobeying the President by choosing to do things her way,” the source revealed, adding that as a result, the President got frustrated after losing support in the 2016 Presidential Elections and therefore decided to get rid of her.
The source also said Museveni was also disappointed by energy minister Irene Muloni after it emerged that her docket had misappropriated sh24b during the construction of Isimba Dam.
Former ICT minister Idah Nantaba was also removed from Cabinet over indiscipline.
