While being hosted on a current affairs talkshow on one of the local TV stations, Lukwago said the talk of who will be the National Resistence Movement presidential candidate come 2026 is a game being played by Museveni to keep the public debate and eye on his family.
“What the Museveni regime wants us to do is to keep debating about the same family. They are entrenching a dynasty, they are just playing on our psychology. Muhoozi will always be a crown prince.,” he said.
He added: “All he wants is for his family members to be talked about as possible successors. In reality, Muhoozi and Museveni can never be at each other’s necks. Muhoozi will always be a crown prince as long as his father is still the president. He’s like a standby generator just incase the real power goes out. That is why the movement supporting Museveni’s presidency in the party is stronger than that of Muhoozi.”
During the talkshow, the Lord Mayor also said the idea of Kampala becoming a smart city has been vulgarised by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) who have been brutal towards the helpless poor people in the city trying to make a living.
“The idea of a smart city is innocent, but here it has been vulgarised. In Kampala, it means brutal conduct towards the helpless people. We do political audits in KCCA. We are not fighting, we are doing our work. Have I slapped the Executive Director of KCCA? No.”
