Muntu announced on Tuesday that he has quit FDC alongside other members.

He briefly held a meeting with the party leadership and presented findings from his 9 months consultation exercise which commenced in January.

The former UPDF army chief served as the opposition party president from 2012-2017 and lost the presidency to Patrick Amuriat Oboi.

Oboi told local media that Muntu's decision to leave the party will not affect its activities.

The 55-year-old party president also reiterated that the party will focus on its core mandate since "half-hearted" members have left.

There are reports that Muntu and Bobi Wine are likely to pair and make an alliance against the ruling government.
