Mugisha Muntu announces new political party
Mugisha Muntu announces that a new political party, New Formation, will be launched on December 25th, 2018.
The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president made the announcement on Thursday while addressing reporters in Kampala, Uganda.
He was flanked by other former FDC members and MPs as he revealed what the new opposition political party, New Formation.
"Our departure is in good faith. This action is mutually beneficial to FDC and those ones leaving. If handled well, this will allow greater cooperation between opposition parties.
"We want to ensure our departure is as smooth as possible. We have talked to the leadership of FDC to establish that dialogue remains open," Muntu said in his press briefing.
Public engagement and awareness
The former FDC president revealed that his team will embark on an exercise to sensitize the masses what "New Formation" represents in the struggle for a democratic government.
"Over the next weeks, we shall define what this new formation stands for and its core values. We shall do this through public engagement".
He said: "In the past, we have had political parties being formed along ethnic lines but this will be built along the lines of strategy and political mobilisation".
