Mama Fiina inspires fans after shedding 60kgs
Popular traditional healer and businesswoman Sophia Namutebi, better known as Mama Fiina, has revealed a major weight loss transformation; shedding close to 60 kilogrammes.
Mama Fiina returned to social media on Monday, August 24, 2026, to share her experience after spending about a year working on her weight.
She said she previously weighed 140kg but has since dropped to 83kg, a loss of 57kg.
In an inspiration video, she described cutting weight as “lifting a persistent curse off of you.”
“It is not easy,” Mama Fiina said. “Weight loss means sacrifice. And it's key for your life because if you do not do it, you could lose your life,” she said.
“Starting on the weight loss journey means letting go of some things such as food, drinking and comfort. You must exercise.”
Mama Fiina discouraged people from seeking shortcuts and said consistency had helped her achieve her goal.
“Many think losing weight is impossible; but it is. It depends on how you exercise consistently without forcing yourself,” she said.
“How did I drop these kilos? It was through sacrifice. Now I am going to embark on teaching people about things like diet and how to shed weight,” she said.
Her transformation adds another chapter to the public life of one of Uganda's most recognisable traditional healers.
Mama Fiina rose from a difficult childhood to build businesses in Kampala. She previously told Daily Monitor that she started hawking polythene bags in Kampala in 1995 with Shs38,000 before expanding into clothes, transport and other businesses.
She later became a prominent leader among Uganda's traditional healers and has maintained a public profile through business, traditional healing and community work.
Mama Fiina has also built a reputation for supporting Ugandans facing financial and personal difficulties. Her beneficiaries over the years have included people seeking medical treatment, school fees and support following personal crises.
