The university said the cause of death had been determined as suicide.

Officials said Cherop’s family had been informed and would receive support under the institution’s students’ burial policy.

Cherop, who came from Rotin Village in Nyimei Parish, Kwani Sub County, Kween District, was due to complete his studies at the university.

A delegation of students, faculty members and friends will attend his send-off, according to the university.

The death adds to concerns about mental health challenges among university students, with institutions increasingly calling for support systems to help learners facing personal difficulties.
