Decision will see the football giants skip key regional tournaments for 2 years

Kenya’s struggling football has suffered a setback following a 2-year ban by Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) handed over to Gor Mahia.

The ban was part of disciplinary action after the club’s players refused to collect bronze medals after finishing third in this year’s CECAFA Kagame cup.
Gor Mahia subjected the tournament organizers to a long wait for over five minutes as Tanzania’s Minister for Sports and Speaker of the National Assembly waited to hand over the medals to no avail.
The team however pocketed Ksh I million for their podium finish after thrashing Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi (JKU) 2-0.
The decision was announced by CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.
