Ichuli's look-alike produces video to confirm he is not dead, Ugandans react

A Canada-based TikToker, who resembles Ichuli, found himself in the eye of the storm as Ugandans bombarded his comment section with Rest in Peace (R.I.P.) messages.

The TikToker, who goes by nebsjay, has some facial features that resemble those of fallen social commentator Isma Olaxes Ichuli.

Some Ugandans had mistaken him for Ichuli.

"I thought this was iculi😢😢😢" a commenter posted on one of the videos.

As time has passed, most of his recent videos have been majorly commented on by Ugandans, and the algorithm has brought him into the eyes of more Ugandans.

Nebsjay, who commands a following of 325.5k on the video hosting service, has been able to maintain his new fans, as his videos are mostly about him dancing. He is a prolific content creator.

In a video shared on Tuesday, he said people had been calling him thinking he is dead.

He produced a TikTok video to confirm to friends and relatives that he was alive.

"Just to clarify the rumour going around, I'm very much alive," he says in the video.

"You can see I'm here... I think it's misinformation; people mistaking me for someone in Uganda."

He said: "I thought it's very important I clarify this. I'm very much alive."

Olaxes Ismail, aka Jajja Kalevu Ichuli, died on Saturday, May 6.

According to Police, he was gunned down at 9:20pm, give or take, in Kyanja Central Zone, Nakawa Division in Kampala. 

The assailants are yet to be identified.
