Owner of Carrefour Supermarket chain dies

“May God have mercy on our brother Majid Al Futtaim, the creative businessman, and one of Dubai’s most important merchants and senior men,” Al Maktoum tweeted on the evening of Friday.

“May God have mercy on him and place him in his spacious gardens,” he added.

By press time, the cause of the billionaire’s death has not yet been made public. He was a mall developer who held the Carrefour franchise rights in many countries.

According to his Business Empire via Twitter, he has been a visionary entrepreneur with goals that transformed the face of business in the entire region and he has also inspired so many people through his lifetime achievements.

“Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Majid’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the empire tweeted.

Majid Al Futtaim took over six stores in Uganda from South African retailer, Shoprite after it announced its exit from the Ugandan market in August this year.
