Fire guts building in Mukono

“The territorial Police at Mukono have today May 1st, 2023 with Fire Prevention and Rescue services responded to a fire outbreak,” a statement released by Police on its official Twitter handle on Monday morning indicated.

Police said the incident allegedly occurred at approximately 5am on Monday, 1 May 2023 morning on a storied building located along Kayunga Road roundabout in Mukono Municipality.

“Our teams are working tirelessly to extinguish the fire, and we can confirm that no deaths or injuries have been reported so far. We urge the public to remain calm and to cooperate with our rescue teams as we work to bring the situation under control. We will provide more details as soon as the fire is fully extinguished, and the situation is brought under control,” the statement further read.

Police also cautioned the public on taking necessary measures to ensure that fire outbreaks are prevented at all costs.

“We would like to remind the public to prioritise their safety and to take all necessary precautions to prevent fire outbreaks. We assure you that we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of everyone affected by this unfortunate incident.”

The cause of the fire outbreak hasn’t yet been established.

According to Police, no life was lost but the extent of damage of the property (the building) and other belongs wasn’t yet established by press time.
