Eddy Ssendi believes Abba trying to profit from dad’s ill health
Eddy Ssendi gave his response on Friday, to Jose Chameleone’s son Abba Marcus Mayanja who had earlier ripped him for poking his nose into the Mayanja family affairs.
Speaking on the Vybe Life Ug talk show, Ssendi floated the possibility of Abba trying to launch into a new career path by latching on his father’s health challenges.
While Abba’s first video addressing the legendary singer’s struggle with pancreatitis was genuine, Ssendi believes his subsequent Tiktok streams responding to critics point to other ulterior motives.
Ssendi compared the teenager to a struggling musician who might use misfortune like a car crash to their advantage, by tapping into public sympathy.
“There’s when a bad situation comes and you find a way of taking advantage of it,” he said
“We have seen scenarios where an artist gets into a car accident and is taken to hospital and they notice that amid the public sympathy, if they drop a new song, it might pick up,”
A golden opportunity
On the show, media personality Adam Kasirye also made the same conclusion, noting that Abba could have been “preparing us for the launch of his podcast.”
He pointed out how the 19-year-old’s responses have been well choreographed with expert videography and sound.
“His concern about his father’s health might be true but it's also possible that he saw this as an opportunity to launch his next platform,” said Kasirye.
Eddy Ssendi was one of the Ugandans at the receiving end of Abba’s jabs of the past week as he addressed criticism for publicly discussing his father, Jose Chameleone's, health issues and revealing certain challenges within their extended family.
