Denis Onyango nominated for CAF African Player of the Year
Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango has been nominated for the CAF African Player of the Year 2018 award.
The 34-man short-list features Egypt's and Liverpool FC Mo Salah, Sadio Mane Naby Keita and Nigeria's Alex Iwobi among others.
Onyango, also Mamelodi Sundown's first choice goalkeeper, won last year's 'Best Goalkeeper In Africa' award.
Uganda's national team, the Uganda Cranes, have been nominated for men's national team of the year.
CAF awards
49 players, including 15 women, have been nominated for the flagship awards -- Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year.
The winners for the African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year will be decided by CAF Technical and Development Committee, Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, Coaches and Captains of the national teams of the 54 Member Associations.
The award ceremony will be held on January 8th in Dakar, Senegal, next year.
