Cindy remembers when her private pictures were published by a tabloid

During a recent interview, Sanyu reminisced about how she felt during that difficult period.

"There is this one controversy that shook me, that almost made me quit the industry, and that was when I had my nude pictures come out in the papers. I'm just glad there was no Facebook [Laughs] and... It's the only time I felt like I wanted to be dead. Like, like, I wish I was dead right now so that when everything comes out I won't feel the pain," said Cindy.

"And it was not a lot about me; it was about everyone around me and how much they were affected. My mother is a very strong Christian so you can imagine people talking to her about, you know, her daughter being nude in the papers and she doesn't know how to explain it. I don't know how to explain it and that was terrible. And the stories that people added onto the picture were horrible. I thought it would kill me, seriously, I really thought my career was done, but God is good ."

The pictures were published by Red Pepper in 2008, shortly after being fired from Blu*3. She was also still in a young relationship with the father of her daughter named Amani Brunneti whom she gave birth to about 11 years ago. Cindy and Mario Brunette, who is Italian, split in 2014.

The Boom Party hitmaker joined the music industry in 2005 through a competition called Coca-Cola Real Stars.

She joined Blu*3 when she was in S.6., joining Jackie Chandiru and Lilian Mbabazi under the management of Steve Jean.

Cindy Sanyu's solo career began in 2007.
