Ugandans in US rush to hospital as Kusasira undergoes heart procedure

Kusasira was last evening rushed to the emergency room for commencement of the heart procedure.

One of her friends, Ritah Kaggwa who spoke to her moments before the surgery, says her condition was not encouraging.

“When I spoke to her, she was being rushed to the theatre but it is not good…her state was just worrying,” Kaggwa said 

Kaggwa, who is based in the UK, said she immediately contacted Ugandans living in the US and directed them to the hospital where Kusasira was admitted.

The singer and Presidential advisor announced last week that she’s suffering from a heart condition known in medical terms as “pericardial fat,” or simply “fatty heart”

These visceral fats around the heart can cause inflammation, which in turn can lead to other health problems.

Medical experts say, fatty heart increases one’s risk of strokes, heart attacks and other heart conditions. The more pericardial fat you have, the more dangerous it becomes.

Some of the risk factors for this conduction include being overweight and living a sedentary lifestyle, with little to no body exercise.

Although this condition can me managed with some medication, at certain levels it might require heart surgery to open clogged heart arteries.
