The officials have also closed off training for the first team players at Carrington Park to prevent further infections for the next 24 hours. Players and officials that tested positive are now isolated, according to premier league rules and regulations. The Carrington Training Grounds were closed off on Monday afternoon.
With disruption of players in the first team and cancellation of the match, the club has requested for the match to be rescheduled. All detected positive cases amongst players and staff came after they took lateral flow of tests on Monday after the 1:0 away win with Norwich at Carrow Road stadium.
With Manchester United’s appeal to postpone the match, the Premier League board took on this decision based on guidance from medical advisors and regretted the inconvenience caused to fans of both teams.
"Following medical guidance, the Premier League board have postponed Tuesday night's match against Manchester United due to the exceptional circumstances of an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak within the Manchester United squad”, a statement from Brentford stated.
"We appreciate that there will be many fans who will be inconvenienced with the fixture postponement and we apologise for the disruption, which was out of our control, but we respect the Premier League's decision and acknowledge that the health and safety of both clubs' players and staff must always come first.
We wish everyone affected a speedy recovery and look forward to hosting Manchester United at the Brentford Community Stadium in the New Year.”
According to Brentford officials, rearranged match details will be communicated when confirmed and all match tickets will remain valid for the rearranged fixture.
