Bobi Wine reportedly home after 'hiding' from police during a raid

Bobi Wine has reportedly returned at his home in Magere after police raided a hotel he was staying in Jninja ahead of a concert on Saturday night.

The legislator said on social media that his team was ordered out of the hotel on gunpoint.

Wine, 36, also claimed that police mounted roadblocks to and from Jinja town to intensify the search for him.

A local journalist on Sunday confirmed that Wine has since returned at his home.

The legislator's lawyer has condemned the action by security operatives describing it as 'political witch hunt'.

"This is a clear and brazen act of targeted political repression by the Uganda authorities aimed at violating Bobi Wine's human rights.

"Once again, Bobi Wine has broken no law, the concert was fully and legally permitted and the other participating musicians were not targeted," Robert Amsterdam posted on Twitter.
