Musician Bebe Cool has been on the waiting list after the government, which he helped to win the presidential elections in 2016 by singing during campaigns, introduced controversial taxes on social media and mobile money.
His fans have been waiting for his opinion about the controversial taxes which came into effect on July 1st.
The pressure to respond comes after his fellow musicians i.e. A Pass and Bobi Wine, were seen on the front line protesting against the taxes during peaceful demonstrations in the CBD on Wednesday.
In a TV interview, Bebe Cool reacted on the mobile money and social media taxes for the first time saying "social media needs to be regulated" because it is causing "moral decay" most Ugandans use it for bad things.
"If you're a true leader, you have to curb social media and limit those who misuse it. I feel pity for my country, people need to be sensitized," he said.
The celebrated singer revealed that he didn't join the protests on Wednesday because his colleagues "Bobi Wine and A Pass are acting like a nuisance" and "felt so ashamed personally when I saw them protesting".
Bebe Cool was one of the musicians who was contracted by Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni to compose a campaign theme song for his 2016 presidential election campaigns.
