Musician Hajara Namukwaya aka Spice Diana has bashed the recently concluded Janzi Awards, saying there is nothing much such events and awarding ceremonies add to the music industry.

Spice Diana says instead of the government using taxpayers' money to organize such events and hire artists to perform and get paid, it should just fully open up the entertainment industry that has been on total lock down for over two years, for musicians to perform and get paid, rather than being spoon fed on awards ceremonies.

Spice Diana says the awards criteria of awarding the best has selfish criteria especially when it came to awarding the Artist of the year.

She posted on her Facebook, “We congratulate every winner, however, what is the criteria you used to determine the Artist of the year? I know so many great artists who deserved that accolade hands down”.

Spice Diana also wondered why there was a rush in organizing these awards and the final event.

“What was the rush to organize an award ceremony in two weeks. What was the intention of the event? Why did you allow the fans to vote if the final verdict depended on the opinion of just the ‘academy’ who we are not sure of their interests?”, Spice Diana wrote.

The Janzi Awards happened over the weekend, with the first batch on Saturday and the final awards ceremony on Sunday. The event that happened at the Kololo Independence Grounds attracted many stakeholders from the entertainment industry.

“Artistes that are paid to perform at such events are being used and dumped so the government should just open the entertainment industry”, Spice Diana concluded.
