Another security guard shoots dead colleague in Tororo

Pulse Uganda has since learnt that the two guards are employees of Saracen Uganda Limited, a private security agency, and that they had been deployed overnight to man the security of residential premises belonging to Tororo Cement.

Clare Adikin, a key witness, said that she quickly alerted Police which responded promptly to arrest Okidi and another colleague Robert Ejumu.

I was in my house mopping and heard a raised voice, shortly after, I heard a gunshot, only to reach the scene I found one of the guards lying dead,” she narrated.

This incident comes at the backdrop of two murder shooting involving security guards.

Two weeks ago, Pte. Wilson Sabiiti shot dead former state minister for labour Rtd. Col. Charles Engola at his home in Kyanja as he prepared to go for Cabinet meeting.

Sabiiti later took his own life in a saloon in the same area.

Residents revealed that he shouted out his frustrations about poor and delayed pay on the side of Government before taking his own life.

A week later, Police Constable Ivan Wabwire shot dead an Indian money lender identified as Uttam Bhandari, who, according to Police, was the director of TFS Financial Services.

The incident took place at Rajja Chambers in Kampala on Friday, May 12 2023.

The shootings have thus sparked debate about mental health, minimum wage and working conditions for employees as a whole.
