Ugandan police authorities are holding a couple, including an 18-year-old girl who faked her own kidnap.

The girl identified as Regina Nakiwu allegedly faked her kidnap with intentions of defrauding UGX2m from her parents.
Her boyfriend, William Ssenyonga, told authorities that they planned on how to expand his shoe business and be able to pay the bride price.
Nakiwu suggested that Ssenyonga calls her father claiming that he had kidnapped her and wanted a ransom of UGX2m.

He called the girl's father and "threatened to kill her if the money wasn't delivered", according to a statement issued by the police.
The girl's father reported the case with police authorities and investigations started.
The couple was found having lunch in Kawaala, a neighbourhood within Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.
