Renowned Ugandan banker Joram Kahenano passes on

Renowned Ugandan banker Joram Kahenano, who served as the Chairman of the Council at Victoria University, has passed away.

The announcement was made by Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging Kahenano’s visionary leadership and his significant contributions to the university’s growth.

The university community has been urged to come together in this time of mourning to support each other and honor his memory.

Joram Kahenano was a prominent figure in Uganda's financial sector and held a Non-Executive Director role at I&M Bank Uganda. With an extensive background in banking and finance, he played an instrumental role in shaping financial operations and governance within the institutions he was part of​.

At I&M Bank Uganda, his contributions have been well-recognized, and his leadership has been seen as pivotal to the bank’s operations and strategic direction​

During his career, Kahenano held various key positions in the banking sector and was known for his leadership qualities and in-depth understanding of the financial industry. His influence extended beyond banking into education, where his role as the Chairman of Victoria University’s Council demonstrated his commitment to fostering education and professional development in Uganda.

VC Muganga in his message stated that Kehenaho’s legacy will live on through the impact he made on the university and its mission.

Funeral arrangements and further details regarding his passing have not yet been disclosed by the university. In this difficult time, the university’s leadership has called for thoughts and prayers to be with Kahenano’s family.
