NRM rallies support for Janet Adongo Rose Elau in Dokolo by-election

As the six-day campaign marathon in the Dokolo by-election draws to a close, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has called upon voters to show their support for Janet Adongo Rose Elau, their chosen candidate, by turning out in large numbers to vote.

National Resistance Movement (NRM) has called upon voters to show their support for Janet Adongo Rose Elau, their chosen candidate.

Janet Adongo, along with notable figures such as NRM's Mobilisation head Rosemary Seninde, Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa Paul Amoru, and Dokolo South MP Felix Okot Ogong, covered ground across Agwata town council, Adok, and Agwata sub-counties. They emphasized the importance of electing the NRM flag bearer for improved services in the region.

Adongo warned the locals about the consequences of electing opposition candidates, who she claims are obstacles to the NRM's development agenda.

“Let’s not hand over our mandate to those against the government. They are not part of the discussions where the nation’s resources are allocated. Only NRM can drive development forward,” she stated, acknowledging the locals' overwhelming support as a sign of their trust and confidence in her.

Rosemary Seninde, the NRM director of Mobilisation, advised the electorate to disregard the opposition's attempts to smear Adongo and the NRM with falsehoods. “Don’t be misled by the rumors and lies spread by our adversaries about our candidate,” Seninde urged.

She further encouraged a strong turnout to welcome the NRM National Chairman and President Yoweri Museveni as he joins the campaign for Adongo at two separate events on Tuesday.

Ambassador Amuro urged voters to make a well-considered choice for the district's future. “For our district's advancement, it's crucial to vote for the ruling party, NRM, and our candidate Janet Eau,” he highlighted.

The by-election has attracted a range of candidates, including NUP’s Harriet Ageno, Sarah Aguti of UPC, independents Akullo Esther Obot and Arao Rebecca, as well as FDC’s Alwoc Austin Ogwal, and independent Lalam Grace Hanna.

Voters are set to make their decision on March 21, marking a pivotal moment for the Dokolo district.
