Generals Mbadi, Muhanga rush to Kasese as ADF attack death toll rises to 41

President Yoweri Museveni has dispatched the UPDF Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi and Commander Land Forces (CLF) Gen Kayanja Muhanga to Kasese district, where suspected ADF terrorists carried out an attack at a local school, killing more than 40 people.

The attack happened on Friday night at around 11:30 pm at Mpondwe/ Lhubiria SS in Nyabugando Parish Karambi Sub County Kasese District

UPDF Spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye said the generals will be joining the area Division Commander on the ground for on spot assessment.

The President has also sent out officials from the Ministry of Education to commiserate with the school.

At least 41 people have now been confirmed to have been killed in the attack. Of these, 22 students were burnt in their dormitory, while another 17 were killed when the terrorists set off a bomb on their way out. 

Another 2 residents were also killed. Authorities were yet to establish the number of students who were abducted by the attackers.

Kulayigye together with the Police Spokesman Enanga said the attackers were being pursued in Virunga National Park.
