Bobi Wine narrates how snake attacked 'future betrayer' Ashburg at Busabala meeting

The then all-powerful Ghetto Gladiator was meeting a group of his social media warriors named the Firebase Army, to officially inform them that he was contesting in the Kyaddondo East parliament by-election. The meeting took place under a tree at his Busabala beach.

Most of the group members did not support his decision to veer into politics. They didn’t think of the “Ghetto President” as truly a politician, while some of them did not wish to see him go through the same treatment as Col Dr Kizza Besigye at the time.

But other members didn't need much convincing and one of them was Katto. He stood up during the meeting and aired his opinions on why he supported Wine to run for parliament.

He told the meeting that the musician was not only perfect for parliamentary politics, but could also be a potential Head of State.

Bobi Wine narrates however, that shortly after Katto gave his impassioned speech and resumed his seat, a big snake dropped from the tree branches above and fell right onto his feet, sending everyone scattering in fear.

“Everyone was so scared,” the NUP President said in an interview with BBS last week.

Although they couldn't make sense what had just happened, Wine inferred that this could have been an indication that Katto would later betray the group.

“Eventually he was the one who first sold us out and joined Museveni,” he said.

Joining politics

Bobi Wine says he conceived the idea to join politics through discussions with his friends Eddy Mutwe and Nubian Li.

Mutwe used to interest the group in politics and current affairs by forcing them to listen to political talk shows. They would then debate amongst themselves and feel angry about the ruling Government.

One time, Wine joked about a "group of Rastas" contesting and joining parliament.

This joke was to become a reality months later when the Kyaddondo East seat fell vacant after its holder Paul Kantinti was thrown out of parliament by court.
