ONC, which is headed by Hajat Uzeiye Namyalo Hadijah, unveiled a 130-member team that will descend onto 22 sub-regions across the country to mobilise for the party as it prepares for the 2026 presidential race.
Katto is among the 17-man team that has been appointed to the Social Media Online Team.
“We looked for value addition, not friends. Otherwise, if it were for friends, I have many of them but I didn't call them. You went through a rigorous vetting process to be finally accepted to work for this office. We have an evaluation mechanism and those who will perform better will be rewarded. Learn how to fight for relevance in your areas,” Hadijah, who is also the senior presidential advisor on Political Affairs, said while unveiling the team over the weekend.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to run in the 2026 presidential elections, according to the NRM.
Ashburg Katto, who started blogging in 2008 and became a Facebook sensation, was close to NUP leader Bobi Wine until he decided to join the NRM in 2020. He had worked with Wine since 2009 helping him manage his social media platforms.
For some period after joining the NRM, some people speculated that he would be abandoned after being ‘used’ but it seems he made the right decision judging by how things are going so far.
Katto, who was born Ashraf Kato, hails from Masaka.
