Ugandan comedy duo Madrat and Chiko celebrate a decade of laughter

Comedy enthusiasts in Uganda are gearing up for a special event as the popular comedic pair, Madrat and Chiko, prepare to celebrate their ten-year anniversary in the entertainment industry. The milestone event is set to take place on August 9, 2024, at the lush Kampala Sheraton Gardens, promising an evening filled with laughter and entertainment.

Madrat, whose real name is Dickson Lubega, and Chiko, known offstage as Frank Mubiru, began their journey in the small town of Mukono. Their big break came when clips of their performances aired on television, leading to a successful stint at the renowned Africa Laughs festival. Since then, they have become beloved figures in Uganda’s comedy scene, known for their sharp wit and relatable humor.

Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, expressed his admiration for the duo, noting their remarkable ability to resonate with diverse audiences.

"Madrat and Chiko’s journey over the last decade is a testament to their skill, perseverance, and the universal appeal of good humor," said Allibhai.

He emphasized that the celebration is not only about marking a decade of performances but also recognizing the duo’s significant impact on Uganda’s cultural landscape.

The upcoming concert, organized by Talent Africa Group, will showcase a variety of performances, including a headline act by Madrat and Chiko themselves, who are known for their unique blend of humor and satire. The event will also feature performances by guest artists, fellow comedians, and appearances by influential public figures, creating a vibrant atmosphere for attendees.

Reflecting on their ten-year career, Madrat shared his enthusiasm about the upcoming event. "It’s an honor to celebrate this milestone. Our journey has been filled with ups and downs, but each step has brought us closer to our dreams," he remarked. Chiko added, "The support from our fans has been incredible. We’re excited to share this celebration with them and to continue bringing smiles to their faces."
