In a video shared on TikTok, Karungi and Kenzo are seen playfully slapping each other before they begin to laugh. They’re seated next to each other as Mbabazi belted out Miriam Makeba’s 'Malaika' during the Tuesday, October 24 jam session.
“The way u two are playing like lovers naye sheebah ne kenzo,” a commenter observed.
Another one said: “This is very dangerous 😂😂😂😂 are you guys thinking what am thinking.”
Jam sessions are held on Tuesdays at at A'lure Hotel & Suites Mutundwe under the supervision of the Uganda National Musicians Federation where Kenzo and Sheebah are president and vice president respectively.
The sessions have brought musicians together and offered them an opportunity to have fun together while mastering their craft. Up-and-coming artistes have also used it as a platform to showcase their talent.
Musicians who had also talked to each other in a while like Lilian Mbabazi herself and Weasel got to share sweet moments on stage while there recently.
Who is Lilian Mbabazi?
Born in Nsambya Hospital, Lilian Mbabazi grew up in Wandegeya, a trading hub in Kampala. Her parents who are of Rwandan descent migrated to Uganda in 1959 during the war.
She went to Buganda Road Primary School, and after P.7, she went to Kigali and studied there two years, living with her mother.
Mbabazi started singing at a young age and her mom returned her to Uganda after she escaped and sang at an event that would be shown on TV.
On returning to Kampala, she went to St. Peters S.S.S. Nsambya and completed O-Level from St. Lawrence and joined Kabojja International School for A-Level.
After S.6, she went back to Rwanda and started performing in a band and eventually got a performing job at Hôtel Des Mille Collines, Kigali.
She returned to join Makerere University where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. It was while at university that she met Steve Jean who encouraged her to join Coca-Cola Pop Stars. After the competition, Blu*3 was formed. Her music career kicked off. She left Blu*3 to launch a solo career and she has released some of the most popular songs in Uganda.
