Bajjo reveals cost of hiring to Uganda singers: Sheebah, Bebe, Bobi, Kenzo

Andrew Mukasa, the proprietor of Bajjo Events, came up with new figures to guide those who want to hire Ugandan musicians to perform at their functions.

Juliana Kanyomozi, Bajjo and Rema Namakula

This is not the first time the controversial events' promoter has rated musicians, with the latest being the list he shared at the start of 2023. To come up with this list, he was speaking to the journalist Ronnie Mark Kiyingi.

According to Bajjo, Catherine Kusasira who used to be paid Shs2.5-3 million for weddings, is now at 800k. To perform at a show in Kampala, said Bajjo, Kusasira should be paid 500k, and 300k if it is outside of Kampala.

He said the Taxi hitmaker lost value because of her association with the ruling NRM which has led to her being sidelined by those in the opposition.

Bajjo said for shows in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, Bebe Cool deserves Shs1 million, Shs700k for weddings, and 1.5m for shows outside Kampala. He also said Cool's value declined because of his political inclinations and having no hit songs.

He said his only songs of Cool that are not bubblegum are Love You Everyday and Kamwako.

Bajjo put Mayinja at 2m for shows in Kampala, 2.5m for events outside Kampala, and 2m for weddings.

O.mutujju was given Shs4m for Kampala shows and 5-6m for events outside Kampala.

According to Bajjo, Eddy Kenzo used to be hired at Shs20 million but joining the federation which positioned him as government-leaning has reduced his value. He gave him 4-5m for shows in Kampala and 5-6m for events outside of Kampala.

Sheebah Karungi, who has a new trending song titled Wakikuba, was given Shs4-6m for shows in Kampala and 6-7m for shows outside of Kampala.

Bajjo said Winnie Nwagi costs Shs4-6m for shows in Kampala. Despite what many think, he said the Nwagi is the most well-behaved singer in Uganda.

David Lutalo is among the most expensive singers in Uganda, Bajjo gave him Shs5-7m for shows in Kampala. For those planning to hire him for weddings, he said they should be ready to cough up to Shs4-6 on weddings.

Rema Nakamukula, who recently held a successful concert dubbed Melodies of Love, was put at Shs5-7 million for shows in Kampala. He said she doesn't perform well when she is taken upcountry.

Bajjo said he would pay Bobi Wine Shs15m to perform at a show in Kampala. And if they were to do one at Namboole Stadium or Wine's leisure facility in Busababala, Bajjo would be willing to cough up to Shs100m.
