Appearing on Galaxy FM's drive show on Friday, November 24, the songstress said that she had originally suggested to Konshens to remix her song '10 over 10', which is also among the jams on the Sankofa album.

But Konshens offered to collaborate with her on a fresh project.

"My plan was for us to remix '10 over 10' but he was like let's do another song," said Azawi, real name Priscilla Zawedde.

She sent him the track of 'Summer Bae' and he sang through all of it. He shared what he had recorded and Azawi added her lines.

Meeting Konshens

Azawi has always loved Konshens' music.

"My first performance when I had just joined the industry was at Roast & Rhyme," she said when she was asked how she established the relationship with the Jamaican star, whose real name is Garfield Delano Spence.

"A clip of me freestyling to his song went viral. Later, I went to Kenya for an interview [at Trace Eastern Africa] and I repeated the freestyle."

Calvin Wanguku, who hosted her at Trace, promised that he would ensure Konshens sees the clip and he made good on the promise. As Calvin was pushing on his side, Azawi was also in Konshens' DMs.

"I think he realised I'm a big fan, which I have been," she said, "I used to sing his songs when I was still performing under bands."

Konshens will be performing at the Blankets And Wine on December 17, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

This will the his fourth time in the country, having last performed in 2015 alongside Busy Signal at Lugogo Cricket Oval at a concert and previously in 2013 and 2012.
