Stress Clinic announces stellar lineup of performers for maiden UMA event
Stress Clinic, a new comedy show, will hold its maiden event at UMA Multipurpose Hall, Lugogo in Kampala on Wednesday, November 29.
Paul Ampurire, who heads communications at Stress Clinic, said the new monthly comedy event, will bring a variety of activities to usher in a new era of entertainment.
Ampurire, who was speaking to the media on Monday, November 27, said that they've teamed up with a number of organisations to spice up the comedy event.
Some of the activities that revelers should look forward to include acoustic sessions, dance, drama, showcases of new talent and music performances.
"It will be more than just a show," said Ampurire, adding that Stress Clinic won't just stop at entertainment but it will be a platform to create jobs through people that will be hired to perform and those offering services.
DJ Nimrod and DJ Niyo will set the tone for the event alongside Yeffe Band.
Karma Music, the record label started by Sheebah Karungi, alias Queen Karma, has partnered with Stess Clinic to do its last two rounds of selecting talent to join the label from the event.
Mike Turyakira, who heads the label, said that after auditions that attracted over 600 participants, they are now left with four competitors.
At the first edition of Stress Clinic, the audience will participate in choosing the best two, and the grand finale where the winner will be announced, will be the next edition of the Clinic in December.
At that edition, Sheebah Karungi will perform.
Keko, who was also present at the media briefing, noted that she hasn't been on stage for over six years, so revelers should look forward to a fire performance.
She also noted that she'll be introducing new music
"It is a great platform for up and coming artistes," Keko hailed Stress Clinic, adding: "I'm glad to support platforms showcasing new."
Ronnie Mcvex, who will be hosting the event, said that it "makes sense that we get to have more spaces" to champion comedy in Uganda.
Mcvex, real name Ronnie Musiimenta, is a seasoned comedian and radio host.
