Gashumba, who was appearing on In My Opinion Podcast, hosted by a Ugandan based in the U.K., said she had to leave her father's house because it was far from her workplace and she also needed to be more independent.

According to her, her father, Frank Gashumba, wasn't happy with the decision to move out because he wanted her to move out as she was getting married. However, she said she's never asked him for financial support ever since she left his house in Bunga, a leafy Kampala suburb.

"Since I was 20--21, I've never called my dad for a single coin," she said. "I've never called My father for rent. My rent is $1500 (about Shs5.8 million)."

Sheilah Gashumba noted that it was her friend and entrepreneur Abryanz, real name Titus Brian Ahumuza, who convinced her to rent her place, so she would become more "responsible and independent". Sheilah said she used to "move around with bags of money" and she would spend it with reckless abandon.

She left her father's house in Bunga after the Covid lockdown and revealed that they didn't speak until after a year. Her father would later detail their fallout in a leaked audio in which he revealed that it was Sheilah's mother, Christine Mukuza, also known as Tina Mukuza, who was spoiling her.

In the audio, which was 10 minutes and 51 seconds long, Gashumba shared his history with his daughter and he had sent it to a friend called Diana so that she could forward it to Sheilah, and in the process it leaked to the public.
