Nwagi: 'It's not easy to be both mum and dad, I face life like a man'

Winnie Nwagi said it's not easy being a single mother but one gets used with time.

Nwagi, who is raising a 12-year-old daughter named Destiny Mirembe, also known as Dee M. Valerie, said with the help of God, things have gotten easier.

"It's not easy to be both a mum and dad. Finding yourself in a position where you are providing everything. It's not easy. It's not for the weak," Nwagi told newsmen.

"So that means I'm stronger. It no longer bothers me a lot. I got used. I face life like a man. It's going well and God also helps."

Asked where the dad is, she said: "It's him who knows. We don't want to know... there are many men like him who like acting stupid. I don't give a damn."

Nwagi has previously said on single parenting: "Being a single mother is twice the work, twice the stress, and twice the tears but also; twice the hugs, twice the love, and twice the pride. Happy birthday my love Dee M Valerie."

Nwagi has said her baby daddy fears her because he has not contributed much to raising their daughter.

Nwagi met her baby daddy in her form six vacation. When she realised there was no chance of her joining university, she joined a gym as a pastime and that’s where she met the man she would reproduce with.

“He told me if I want our love to continue, I should abort," Nwagi said during the interview, clarifying how the relationship started having issues.

She refused to abort and it’s then she reduced communication.

"I don't think we can meet... because I think if he saw me, he would hide. Because he fears me... He sees I'm doing everything... I only allowed him to name our child. He is the one who named her Mirembe,” she said.

“I face life like a man... I do everything for my child... I am the mother and father... I told my child that your dad doesn't like you... He doesn't care about us... even when I try to call him when you are sick, he doesn’t show up... And this is a man who has a very nice job.”

Nwagi's baby daddy is called Generale Zaabu Czar'bu, born Joshua Rukundo. They separated in 2017.
