"I may not have done it if wasn't for my madam,” the rapper said in an interview. You never know I could have bought more cars. But being with her and she tells you this is the right thing [and you also think over it and realize she is right]… Building is not easy. I thank God that I started without knowing it's this hard. If I had known, I wouldn't have started."

He also said that the other inspiration was drawn from some artistes older than him that were living miserable lives in retirement.

"When I started hearing that someone died in a rental" my eyes started opening, he said.

He said when he was building the house fans started complaining about his cheap music videos and he found himself in a situation where he had to split his earnings between making good music videos and investing in good videos to keep his fans happy. It was a difficult time.

He completed his house in 2016.

Emmanuel Mungi Matovu hails from Nsunga, Masaka and that’s where he also grew up until he completed S.6 at Masaka Secondary School and joined Makerere University to study computer science.

His passion for music started at a young age and nurturing his talent kicked off in high school.

When he was at university, GNL Zamba became a star and he drew inspiration from him. He had always wanted to sing but he didn't believe there was money in rapping.

He initially wanted to finish school, get a job, and do music as a side hustle.

But when he saw GNL making bank, he changed his mind and dropped out of university in third year.

He was paying his own tuition at university with support from his mum. His mother had supported him to start a stall for clothes in Owino Market.

He left Owino in 2011 after his song Ebintu became hit and start getting booked for shows.

He met GNL through the rapper UniQue. At the time Mun G was burning music CDs in Bugolobi. UniQue was a university student at MUBs then and he used to buy music CDs from Mun G.

UniQue introduced Zamba to Mun G and he also started buying music from him.

GNL then asked Mun G to start backing him. The first time it happened was at a student event at Kyambogo University and Mun G acted as a hypeman.

People liked their energy together.

Mun G ended up becoming the first artiste to be signed under Zamba’s Baboon Forest, followed by Big Trill.

The first song he released was Ebintu which was produced at Swangz Avenue by Just Jose and Benon Mugubmbya

Ebintu was his breakthrough song, and Kyaba Too Much, released a year later, sealed the deal.

The contract at Baboon was for three years and it wasn’t renewed after both parties harmoniously agreed to work separately.
