In an appearance on Vybe Life UG, Cool explained that he was already a supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party before Bobi Wine entered politics.

Bobi Wine's political journey began in April 2017, when he announced his candidacy for Parliament in the Kyadondo County East by-election. His grassroots campaign resonated with voters, resulting in a decisive victory over seasoned opponents from both the NRM and the main opposition, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

On July 24, 2019, Bobi Wine escalated his political ambitions by announcing his intention to run for president in the 2021 general election. As president and presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform, he positioned himself as a significant challenger to Uganda's long-serving leader.

Bebe Cool emphasised, "So when Bobi comes and supports the other side, he's the one who put himself in harm's way with me. He chose the other side, and of course my role here is to fight the other side. His role is to fight this side."

Additionally, Bebe Cool, the son of Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, a former minister and one-time presidential candidate, refuted claims that money is being used to undermine Bobi Wine.
