This endeavour, held on November 16th and 17th, 2023, aimed to bolster the capabilities of these providers, enabling them to better serve Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.
The primary focus of this initiative revolves around mitigating the challenges associated with the subpar quality of BDS and its exorbitant pricing.
Addressing these issues, the project lays emphasis on formulating and implementing quality standards for BDS, fostering their adoption among service providers, and providing comprehensive training to tackle existing hurdles effectively.
AMI supported the formulation of these standards, collaborating closely with a technical working group comprising industry experts, government officials, and representatives from entrepreneurship support organizations.
Two comprehensive standards were crafted and subsequently submitted to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) for official approval and publication.
The collaborative entities kicked off the sensitization campaign and recruitment drive on September 4th, 2023, to promote and implement these standards effectively.
Through an array of mentorship sessions, workshops, and vital resources, participants were equipped with crucial insights into business development standards, practical strategies for overcoming challenges, and opportunities to forge invaluable connections within the business community.
The initiative, officials said, not only aims to enhance the capabilities of BDS providers but also strives to empower MSMEs by providing them with the necessary tools, mentorship, and resources to foster sustainable growth.
The program further promises a suite of resources, encompassing training modules and practical online tools, tailored to meet the diverse needs of entrepreneurs and business professionals seeking to thrive in Uganda's dynamic business landscape.
