A tragic car crash early on Saturday morning has claimed the life of Rajiv Ruparelia, the son of prominent Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:54 AM at the Busabala Flyover traffic lights in Wakiso District, close to the Makindye-Ssabagabo area.
According to a police statement, the crash involved a Nissan GTR, with registration number UAT 638L, which was travelling from Kajjansi towards Munyonyo.
Initial reports suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle after colliding with temporary pavements at the roundabout section of the flyover.
The vehicle subsequently overturned and caught fire, leading to Rajiv Ruparelia’s immediate death. Authorities have confirmed that there was no chance of survival following the crash.
The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined, with investigations currently underway. Police have pledged to update the public once more information is available.
