Although the operation has put the ADF in flight, there are some operational requirements that the two armies plan to look into hence the meeting.

The Deputy defence spokesperson Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu confirmed that Maj. Gen. Kajanja Muhanga and Maj. Gen. Camille Bombele Lohola of the FARDC held a meeting at the UPDF tactical headquarters near River Semliki.

Although the full details of the meeting have not come to light, Lt. Col, Kakurungu dramatically declared that the “ADF may run but they can't hide.”

As the joint operation enters its third week, this meeting comes on the back of several other tactical meetings of this kind.

This meeting also takes into consideration the decision by the DR Congo’s political opposition to support the joint operation and presence of the UPDF on Congolese soil.

Recently, the two armies carried out operations in the shape of Thursday's strikes on two camps of the ADF in DR Congo.

After these strikes, a total of six ADF camps have so far been overrun since Operation Shujaa was launched on November 30, 2021.

Last weekend, the Congolese and Ugandan armies revealed in a joint statement that their joint forces had captured several ADF rebels, destroyed four camps, and rescued 31 Congolese hostages.

A joint statement signed by UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso and Maj. Gen. Leon Richard Kansonga Cibangu of FARDC read: “The preliminary results of the airstrikes and artillery of November 30, 2021, shows that 31 Congolese hostages were released, 34 ADF terrorists captured and four enemy camps destroyed.”
