President Yoweri Museveni has predicted that his good health could drive him to see 100 years of age.
Museveni, who is now 80, says he has been assured by people, including his family members, that he will live to see the rare landmark.
Speaking during his ongoing Parish Development Model (PDM) tour in Greater Mubende, the president shared his thoughts on aging and his continued political aspirations.
“I am 80 years old, and my daughters recently told me I am likely to reach 100 years,” Museveni said.
“That means I still have about 20 years on earth. Then I will leave and go to heaven.”
The President was speaking in light of the apparent lack of interest by most young Ugandans in the strategic security of their country through regional integration.
He said, “It is sad that I am an old man, but I am the only one who is talking about the East African Federation. You, the young people, should be the ones fighting for this in order to expand your markets and become prosperous.”
“Time will come when I will leave you here in your problems and go to heaven.”

A Healthy Lifestyle Contributing to Longevity
Museveni’s stamina and health have often been discussed, with many attributing his impressive endurance to a strict and healthy lifestyle.
He has consistently avoided harmful habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol, choosing instead to focus on a balanced diet consisting of cassava, bananas, and millet.
This diet, along with his regular physical activity, including walking and occasional running, has kept him fit even at his age.
He famously stated in 2015, “I have never tasted alcohol, and I don’t smoke. My body is clean.”
The president's physical activities are complemented by his meticulous hygiene practices, such as regularly washing his hands after shaking hands with people, ensuring his health is well-maintained.
