First Lady Janet Museveni shared a personal story about her battle with a chronic illness during a recent thanksgiving event in Nshwere, Kiruhura district.

The 76 year old recounted the struggles she faced with an illness that caused her to faint suddenly and lose consciousness.

This illness, which was both physically and emotionally draining, led her to seek medical help from various doctors who prescribed numerous treatments, but the relief she sought was elusive.

"I could faint suddenly and become unconscious. Then later after a while, people would tell me what happened, that I collapsed and was unaware of anything for a given time."

The incident, she said, happened at around 3:20 am on Wednesday, shortly after she arrived home from covering the weekly UNMF Jam Session in Makindye.

Despite the numerous treatments she tried, nothing seemed to bring a permanent solution.

Mrs Museveni says it was only through a spiritual awakening that she found a path to healing.

Turning to Faith for Healing

Janet Museveni grew up in a devout, born-again Christian family where both of her parents were spiritually grounded.

Despite being raised in a religious environment, she admitted that she hadn’t truly encountered God in a personal way until she faced the struggles of her illness. She described how she reached a turning point in her life, when, feeling desperate, she turned to God with a heartfelt prayer:

"I went down on my knees and told him, 'If you truly are God, please take away this sickness so it won't happen to me ever again. That way I will know you are not just a story or a part of people's imaginations.'

She made a vow to God, asking for the healing of her sickness and for assistance with other challenges she was facing at the time, requesting these changes before Christmas of that year.

The Moment of Healing and Transformation

To her surprise, by Christmas Day, Janet felt a sense of relief and realization that her prayer had been answered.

"On Christmas Day, I felt someone reminding me of what I had prayed for and that is when I realised I had been healed.

This moment of divine intervention marked the beginning of a significant change in her life. Janet described the experience as a transformative moment, one that shifted her entire perspective on life and faith.

Since that day, she has embarked on a new journey with God, where her faith has strengthened and shaped the woman she has become.
