Minister of State for Minerals, Hon Phiona Nyamutoro, has taken on a surprising new role — video director.
Over the Easter weekend, the youthful minister, who is also the wife of award-winning singer Eddy Kenzo, joined him behind the scenes for the shoot of his latest music video, Nkulowoza.
In a light-hearted social media post on Saturday morning, Nyamutoro talked about her new involvement in the music industry.
“Someone should have warned me earlier that one day I would be an unpaid video director behind the scenes!” she wrote.

She added a cheeky message to Eddy Kenzo’s manager: “Manager Beta stay warned that my services are soon becoming professional, you might just need to update your paylist while am still affordable.”
Nyamutoro also encouraged fans to catch the video on YouTube as part of the Easter celebrations: “Don’t miss catching the Nkulowoza video by @eddykenzoficial.”
Photos shared on her platforms show her actively participating in the production — supervising shots, checking Kenzo’s attire, and reviewing recorded clips with the crew.
A Romantic Reggae Return
)
Nkulowoza is a reggae-inspired love ballad that many fans say reminds them of Kenzo’s earlier romantic hits like Mbilo Mbilo and Ssemyekozo.
The music video, which features a dance troupe from Ethiopia, captures stunning visuals and heartfelt emotion.
Within just 24 hours of release, the video had already crossed the 50,000-view mark on YouTube, showing Kenzo’s enduring popularity and perhaps a new directorial touch courtesy of his wife.
