As the 2026 general elections approach, five youths have so far expressed their intention to contest for the National Female Youth Member of Parliament position, currently held by Phiona Nyamutoro, the Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development.
Gold Ikyiriza
Gold Ikyiriza is the 34th Vice President of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA). She previously served as the 89th Guild Representative Council (GRC) for the School of Social Sciences at Makerere University.

Siyemah Atukunda
Siyemah Atukunda served as the 32nd Deputy General Secretary for UNSA. She has been a Youth Leader in Mubende District and held the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the 16th Guild of Kyambogo University, where she was also a GRC.

Mercy Kanyesigye
A lawyer by profession, Mercy Kanyesigye serves as the Secretary of Legal Affairs for the National Youth Council Uganda.

An alumna of Bweranyangi Girls' Secondary School, Pretty Susan Katusiime is currently the Kazo Female Youth Councillor.

These women, along with other potential candidates, will vie for the position currently held by Phiona Nyamutoro, who succeeded Anna Ebaju Adeke of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Nyamutoro moved on to represent Soroti District as a Woman MP.

During her race for the National Female Youth MP position, Nyamutoro triumphed with 296 votes, far surpassing her closest competitor, Prima Tukamushabe, who garnered 66 votes.
