UCC should produce Bugingo’s video footage, Lawyer Mabirizi
UCC is a government body responsible for regulation of the communications sector in the country.
In the letter he wrote on December 27, 2021, Male Mabirizi says it’s this footage he wants to use to back up his case against the couple at Entebbe Chief Magistrates Court.
Bugingo and Makula are indicted with three counts relating to their customary marriage when Bugingo is already married to Teddy Naluswa under the Marriage Act.
“I request your regulatory office to obtain the recorded videos of the ceremony for onward transmission to me and the court and please notify the producer that he or she will be required to testify in court over it,” part of the letter reads.
Bwerenga local council chairman argued that he watched the introduction ceremony via Pastor Bugingo’s television [Salt TV] and it’s from this testimony that Mabirizi is basing his application.
Mabirizi says that since the media house is managed and run by Bugingo and Makula, it would be hard to avail this footage, which is why he wrote to the governing body [UCC].
This comes after pastor Bugingo denied having been introduced by Makula saying he was invited as a guest of honor at a get together but Mabirizi says Bugingo’s claim that he was just invited for a function does not free him.
Mabirizi adds that since Bugingo denied Makula being his wife, it's also a sign of guilt that the engagement he is in is crime and illegal.
