In a social media post, the Kenyan comedian said East African artistes' music died a long time ago.
“Kenyan Musicians are Dead ASLEEP.
Tanzanian are losing it to AMAPIANO
Ugandans Stopped Singing, they don’t even try anymore,” Omondi posted on his Instagram account.
While many of his followers commented in his support, others went up in arms and attacked him for his negative comments towards fellow East Africans.
As a television star with an actively singing boyfriend, Rickman, Omondi’s post did not impress Sheila Gashumba.
According to Sheila Gashumba, Eric should uplift these artistes and promote them rather than belittle them because he is also a fellow entertainer.
“Also please stop belittling your fellow East Africans!!! It doesn’t look good on you and neither on us!! How will the other African artists look at us with these kinds of posts you are making!! You want them to respect us but how will they do that when you make such posts.” Sheila tweeted.
“Eric Omondi, talking about Uganda like that is hitting below the belt!! You are better than that!! Everyone has their own time to shine. Today it’s Nigeria, it could be Ghana next or Kenya or Tanzania or Uganda!! Trust the process,” she added.
For quite some time, Eric has been bashing the Kenyan music industry saying the active artistes ‘took their feet off the gas pedal’ and their music is in the graveyard.
