More than 1,000 women across the Kampala metropolitan area have received valuable training aimed at enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial skills, thanks to a partnership between Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) and the KiBO Foundation.

The programme, called “Women Arise,” focused on entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and business leadership, providing participants with essential tools for economic independence.

The “Women Arise” initiative offered comprehensive training on a range of crucial skills, including financial literacy, business management, leadership, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The programme encouraged women to design an Action Learning Project, develop a business plan, and present their ideas to CCBU and the KiBO Foundation.

In addition to training, participants received ongoing mentorship and support, aimed at helping them build sustainable businesses and achieve long-term economic independence.

Kirunda Magoola, the Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability Director at CCBU, highlighted the company’s commitment to improving lives.

“We act in ways that aim to help improve people’s lives—whether for our employees, those connected to our business, or the communities we call home,” said Magoola.

He emphasised that through community involvement, Coca-Cola strives to bring positive, measurable change to both the communities they operate in and their business.

The KiBO Foundation, a dedicated social enterprise established in 2007, has a long history of supporting vulnerable youth and women. In partnership with CCBU, the foundation provided training to women in some of the most underserved areas of Kampala.

Winnie Muwanguzi, the Head of Programmes at KiBO Foundation, expressed excitement over the collaboration, stating, “We were excited to join forces with Coca-Cola to provide skills to women in some of the most underserved areas of Kampala. Through this collaboration, we aimed to equip women with the skills and knowledge they needed to start and grow their businesses. Together, we made a difference in the lives of many women and their families.”

This initiative underscores Coca-Cola’s commitment to improving lives and creating shared value, as part of the company’s broader efforts to drive positive change in communities across Uganda.

The “Women Arise” programme is a testament to the power of partnerships and the impact they can have on empowering women, fostering economic growth, and creating sustainable futures for families in Kampala and beyond.

Magoola concluded, “Our people are driven to make an impact, passionate about learning, and committed to caring for others.” Through these efforts, Coca-Cola continues to invest in the future of Uganda’s women, making a lasting difference in the communities they serve.
