He is the director of Zaake Zivuge Foundation, a nongovernmental organization that mobilizes for poverty eradication.

How did he become popular?

He was among the group of lawmakers who strongly opposed the controversial amendment of a bill removing age limits for presidential candidates.

A group of security officers forcefully grabbed the suspended MPs out of parliament.

He tossed microphones and chairs at the security operatives. The MP was put out with one single punch, by the former CDF Katumba Wamala, spending more than 24 hours in a coma.

Zaake was also brutally beaten by security officers; forcing his family to fly him to the United States for treatment.

What happened to Zaake?

Mid August, photos of Zaake circulated on social media -- a few days after his brutal arrest in Arua.

The pictures showed a swollen face and wounded fingers, causing a public outrage and panic prompting Ugandans to question the state of other arrested people, including Bobi Wine.

Security operatives "dumped" the legislator at Lubaga Hospital. He was checked in for treatment and put on oxygen support system.

Medical personnel suggested a specialised treatment for Zaake, preferably from abroad -- in India.

Last week, Zaake was blocked from travelling abroad for specialised treatment for the injuries he sustained.

Security operatives abducted him from the airport together with Bobi Wine -- who is now abroad for treatment.

He was taken to Kiruddu government hospital. Authorities claimed that government doctors hadn't carried out tests to allow him to travel abroad.

The father of one is still at the hospital facility and his health is deteriorating, according to his family.

The family says no government doctor has carried out any tests yet ever since the lawmaker was blocked from travelling.

Ugandans now want him freed and they are using the hashtag #FreeZaake to appeal to the government to clear him and get a proper treatment abroad.
