We were originally a group of 4 - Warafiki
Tori (Victoria Nalugwa), Eyla (Damalie Nalugwa) and Treezy (Patricia Debra Nakalembe currently form Warafiki, a band of three songstresses that was recently unveiled by Fenon Entertainment, a company founded by Jean, who was also behind the formation of Blu*3, arguably the most powerful girl's group that's ever graced the Ugandan music industry.
While appearing on Galaxy FM on Friday, December 22, the trio revealed that they began conversations with Jean, the legendary producer and businessman, around 2021.
Tori, one of the members, was already friends with Steve Jean so she set up the meeting.
Jean met them and told them to sit and be sure they were ready to work together. They're originally four and the fourth was stopped by the boyfriend from carrying forward with them, they said.
The three agreed to work together and Jean subjected them to vocal training for some two years.
On December 8, the group finally premiered their debut Afro Pop tune under Fenon titled Bwekati, which was produced by Steve Jean himself along with Legend P and Joel Keys. The video of the song, which was filmed by Edrine Paul, currently has 10k views on YouTube and it's two weeks old.
Though that's not a bad number, considering Steve Jean's clout in the industry and track record, one would have expected the song to rack up huge numbers in a short while. That being said, the song is beautiful.
Warafiki girls met about seven years ago and banded together in pursuit of greatness in the music industry.
